A man suspected of stealing a television set left residents of Kawila village in Busia County speechless, after he returned the TV stuck on his head.
The owner, Charles Ogutu, said on Wednesday that he decided to seek the services of a witch doctor to trace the thief after his television disappeared on Tuesday.
“For a long time I have been losing my belongings and when I asked around, I was advised to seek the help of someone called Omoding,” Ogutu said.
Duncan Omoding, a witch doctor in the village, promised Mr Ogutu that he would nab the thief and true to his word, a man appeared the following morning with the stolen TV stuck on his head.
According to villagers who witnessed the bizzare event, the man is a notorious thief who not only terrorised residents along the border but crossed over to Uganda as well.
They expressed their mixed reactions over the use of charms in the village with most of them praising the witch doctor for the many issues he had solved.
“There are times that you seek intervention of authorities to no avail, but today I have witnessed with my two eyes that things are possible with charms,” a resident said.
“He is able to solve issues of barrenness, go to him and the next day your wife will have a bulging stomach,” teased an old man.
Omoding acknowledged support from the local government, saying that he was always permitted to administer his charms by the authorities.
The witch doctor eventually allowed the spell be lifted at a fee, removing the TV that had been stuck on the culprit's head for close to five hours.
