President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday treated his family to a surprise lunch at Garden City Mall in Nairobi.
The Head of State took members of his family out at Sugarcane Restaurant, a new Caribbean hotel at the mall located along Thika Superhighway.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the Hotel management disclosed that on the President's menu was: Chicken-Jerk, Oxtail, Curry goat, Beef patties, Rice and peas.
Kathy Getonga, one of the Sugarcane Caribbean Foods owners, expressed her delight in hosting the First family, noting that there was no prior plans of the President's visit to the eatery.
“It was not planned, we were really honoured and happy to have him there, we really appreciated,” Ms Getonga said.
In regard to the whole experience of attending to the President's family, Ms Getonga stated: “They were really down to earth, they were willing to try out everything, and were very casual with the staff and everyone who was trying to meet them, we really appreciated that.”
The joint's management could however not disclose how much the first family spent for lunch.
The Head of State was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, his son Muhoho Kenyatta and a few other family members.
